1965年に竣工し、50年を超える歴史を持つマンズワイン勝沼ワイナリーにおいて、次の50年のワイナリーのあり方を提案し、2021年夏の全面リニューアルオープンに向けて、2020年春に第一期工事が竣工した継続中のプロジェクトである。
D+Mは、小諸ワイナリーの改修を手掛けたインテリアデザイナーDesign8の監修のもとで、アーキテクトである山﨑健太郎デザインワークショップとの協働で、ランドスケープデザイナーとして、コンセプトデザイン、基本設計、実施設計及び施工監理を担当している。下田はまた、Kenzo Estateで培った経験を活かして、ツアーの実施など運用面を含めたリニューアル全体のコンサルティングも実施している。
ランドスケープデザインでは、甲州という土地柄や地域性に配慮しつつも、世界中のワイン愛好家が来訪してすぐにそれと分かるようなワイナリーとしての佇まいを表現することに主眼を置き、建築デザインと調和し、国道に対する存在感を高めるよう、オリーブの並木と石壁を用いた演出を行った。また、来訪者にワイン作りを深く理解してもらえるよう、あえて工場敷地内にデモンストレーションビニヤードを整備し、実際のブドウ栽培を体験できる場を作ることを提案している。
Manns Wine Katsunuma Winery was completed in 1965 and has a history of over 50 years. This is an ongoing project to propose what the winery should be like for the next 50 years, with the first phase of construction completed in the spring of 2020, leading up to a complete reopening.
D+M is in charge of the concept design, design development, construction documents, and construction supervision as a landscape designer in collaboration with architect Yamazaki Kentaro Design Workshop under the supervision of interior designer Design8, who renovated Komoro Winery. Shimoda is also using his experience gained at Kenzo Estate to provide consulting for the entire renovation, including operational aspects such as tours.
The landscape design focused on expressing the winery's appearance so that wine lovers from all over the world would immediately recognize it, while taking into consideration the local characteristics and local characteristics of Koshu, and used rows of olive trees and stone walls to harmonize with the architectural design and enhance its presence on the national road. In addition, to help visitors gain a deeper understanding of winemaking, we proposed setting up a demonstration vineyard on the factory grounds and creating a place where they could experience actual grape cultivation.
