計画敷地は京都、金閣寺に隣接し、鷹が峰、鷲ヶ峰、紙屋川等の自然資源に囲まれた風光明媚な約2.5haの既存庭園である。ここにAman Resortsのホテルを建設する計画であり、2019年11月に開業した。

我々は、AMANEMUに引き続き、Kerry Hillとの協働でこのプロジェクトのランドスケープデザインを担当し、基本設計、実施設計、及び施工監理を実施した。

大文字山への眺望を維持しながら、庭園の特徴的な資源である「石畳」と「苔」を残置しながら拡張し、園内に植えられていたスギ（高木）、モミジ（中木）、アセビ（低木）の階層構造を活かして植栽のリノベーションを実施した。また、既存庭園の外側に新規に整備するメインアプローチには、かつての門扉を移設するなどして、庭への到着感を演出した。

The 2.5 ha project site is located near “Kinkaku-ji” Temple and is surrounded by historic resources such as “Takagamine” Mountain, “Washigamine” Mountain, and the “Kamiya gawa” River. The project is the third Aman hotel in Japan and a Michelin-class restaurant.

Aman Kyoto opened in November, 2019.

The site was once a privately owned Japanese garden, where remains huge stone walls, stone paths, and remnants of a garden that was said to be designed by Isamu Noguchi and Mirei Shigemori.

Although the garden had long been abandoned and it requires heavy restoration and beautification, the quality of the open space is still exceptional.

As the project landscape architect, D+M initiated a series of restoration works including pruning and thinning of the overgrown trees and moss replanting.

D+M's design proposal will retain the ambience of the original garden while providing additional elements required for the new land use, such as the gate, entry road, car pack, and improvements to privacy and safety.

我们在承接AMANEMU项目之后，再次与Kerry Hill合作，负责该项目的景观设计，包括基本设计、施工图设计及施工管理。

在保持对大文字山景观视线的同时，扩展并保留了庭园的特色资源——“石板路”和“苔藓”，并利用园内种植的杉树（高大树木）、枫树（中等树木）、马醉木（低矮灌木）的分层结构，进行了植被的翻新。此外，在现有庭园的外围，为新的主入口通道重新设置了过去的门扉，营造了进入庭园的仪式感。
